History of Artificial Turf

artificial turfThe term 'artificial turf' has become increasingly synonomous with sport. Amongst the first publicised uses of it in sport was the opening of a stadium in Houston, Texas back in the 1960's. By 1975 the McGill University in Canada had hosted the first international hockey tournament to be played on artificial turf and the popularity of this type of turfing for hockey has continued to grow ever since. The International Hockey Federation now requires their international competitions to be played out the surface and the number of sports as a whole that are being played on it has grown immensely.

It's even now officially used in:
The Olympic Games ~ Super Bowl ~ FIFA World Cup preliminary matches
